The research project Understanding the Change. Identity. Culture. Nature was launched in 2021 as an Open Call for Artists entitled Post Lockdown Humanity – Understanding the Change aimed at young professional photographers and focusing on the themes of transformation, change and adaptation.

The Call, promoted by Ashtart Consultancy in collaboration with SiZ Industria Grafica,  aimed to offer visibility and support to professional photographers under 35 of any nationality by publishing an Art Book on the project.

The artists were invited to address ideas of change, transformation and adaptation, with a focus on the themes of identity, culture and nature, through different forms of narrative such as series, reportage, street photography, still photography, etc.

The artworks presented in this volume were selected by a committee composed by Daniel Espinoza, Giulia Pordd, Thomas Roma and Raffaele Vertaldi. They are experts and teachers in the field of photography and contemporary art, who agreed to bring their expertise on and critical contributions to contemporary photography to the project.

The book features the photographic projects of Francesco Andreoli, Milena Deparis, Anastasia Kostikova, Anaïs Lesy, Nikos Papangelis, Ilaria Sponda, Xavier Vasquez, and, as a special project, that of Giancarlo T. Roma.

The volume is an open stitch binding with black thread and silkscreen on cover, and is printed by SIZ on Sirio Color Pietra, Gardapat Kiara, and Fedrigoni Bodonia.
