A long-term project that tells the story of the Tuscan Maremma, its territory, and some of the communities living on the fringes of this land. An intense journey that starts from the coast of the Maremma Park, passing through the pine forests of Principina a Mare and Marina di Grosseto; then the summer holiday spots like Castiglione della Pescaia and the old marshlands along the Ombrone River. In the Grosseto hinterland, we find Nomadelfia, a community of Catholic volunteers. And then: hunters, activists, traveling showmen, and street vendors. In the Shade of a Pine is a documentary photography project with a strong personal poetic component: here, the places of the author's childhood and his most significant memories are photographed. Important social issues and realities are also addressed, with the aim of creating an anthropological portrait that highlights problems related to the land and the changing landscape.
