La coincidenza dello sguardo

Coincidence of the Glance grew out of an archive discovery, an insight, which gave birth to a project that fuses the approach of Home Movies – Archivio Nazionale del Film di Famiglia, centred on the recovery and re-elaboration of private film images, with Giuseppe De Mattia’s artistic research.
A project that seeks correspondences in the image production of a particular historical phase and finds coincidences and closeness between the photographic glance of Luigi Ghirri and that of amateur moviemakers. The result was an exhibition (in Bologna, October 2014) with a series of photographic prints created at Arrigo Ghi’s workshop in Modena, a video installation by Ilaria Ferretti and now this little publication.
