A pregnant photographer, a white square, a Hasselblad camera - and a clear goal: a photo once a month, as long as life circumstances allow. First the growing belly, then the first child, then both, over the years, always staged. The photographed scenes correspond to the current lives of the two models, Merlin and Basil. We see birthdays, a broken leg, musical instruments, wigs, and also the attempt of two children to come to terms with their parents' divorce by staging themselves as lawyers in the fictitious law firm "Partner & Partner".
This comprehensive collection is a public record of the lives of Caroline Minjolle's two sons, Merlin and Basil, and changes and living conditions are made visible in black and white. In conversations with journalist Katrin Sutter, the young adults in the book "Rendez-Vous" talk about how they experience and have experienced this long-term project. What is their attitude to this family ritual? How do the photos in the book differ from family photos? How do they experience stepping out of their private space? Are there any pictures that they don't feel comfortable with? How do they deal with their own image today? How were breaks in family life dealt with in this project?
An extraordinary book, an extraordinary long-term project by a talented photo artist – a book about privacy and being exhibited, a book about family life and change, a book for the eye, but also for reflection and a smile.
