Twenty Weights, please is a collection of moments, gazes, objects, memories, and unsaid words. It is the scent of a journey, the fragrance of a memory.
Sonia Marin collects the intimate and extremely private story of her mother and grandmother and their journey to London in 1950s. Touched by an old family album, the artist travels through the same streets and places again. Her mind dwells those places and she takes new pictures. The book becomes a diary within which lives overlap and, with mild melancholy, tangle inside and outside time.
On the one hand, words stay with the reader among places, moments and dialogues; on the other hand, blank pages in closure leave space for further narrative.
A short text by Alba Solaro outlines memories’ boundaries, either weight or weightless as Weights cigarette’s smoke, gracefully hold in her grandmother’s fingers.
Twenty Weights, please is a limited edition of 200 copies of which 30 specials, signed and combined with eau de parfum, MISCELA # 6, created by Cerizza 1946 – Milano, thanks to an idea of Sonia Marin, exclusively for this project.
