ZIVNE is the fourth collective book by ZONE, it features the work of 167 artists.
Like each one before it, it began with an open call—with no set theme or concept, and no idea what it would become.
We believe that books reveal themselves through the act of making. It’s not something we impose upon the images, but something we discover within them. Gradually, curiously, by listening closely.
This time, as in our first issue, the sequence of the images follows the alphabet. As we continued to eliminate images and move them around, we realized that they were already speaking to one another in their fixed, alphabetical order. They flowed. Somehow, strangely, there was a sense of rhythm and logic. We followed this rhythm and kept it.
