Closer is a tribute to the celebrated photographic series by Dino Pedriali, to whom Pier Paolo Pasolini entrustedthe task of taking some shots — among the most intimate depictions of the renowned Italian intellectual — to accompany his unfinished novel Petrolio, his most complex and tormented work.
Pasolini undresses, opens the book, sits on the large bed, naked in his room, caught in his intimacy. Dino photographs that thin, beautiful body through the window, posed like a model pretending not to know he’s being watched, yet clearly pleased to be the object of voyeurism and desire.
Gaia Ginevra Giorgi, poet and performer, undresses while reading a poetry book,
photographed by Alessandro Trapezio in the evening darkness. She is observed and photographed without receiving any direction; her actions are guided by the dynamics of the habitat recreated for her.
