Screen blue light, notifications, the endless scroll of images, and the perpetual presence of devices have gradually seeped into our daily lives, reshaping our relationship with time, attention, and drowsiness. It is an invasion. The anxiety of notifications becomes a shadow, the algorithm mutates into a monster, infinite scrolling fragments our dreams and turns them into digital nightmares. A new and unsettling physiology of rest begins to emerge.

REM takes shape within the subconscious of a young woman, in a permeable space where the boundary between the symbolic and the technological is blurred. Sleep is haunted by the very spectres that most deeply define wakefulness: pixel residues, digital fragments, artificial brightness, interference.

Within this dimension, sleep becomes the last bastion of resistance - an oblique language through which the body processes and returns all that, in a state of consciousness, we tend to absorb and normalise.

REM interprets fractured and disturbed sleep as an organic response to cybernetic pressure: a biological signal, the only remaining way for our minds to desperately ask us to remain human.
