A portrait of a community living in a building which has - unbeknown to residents - been at high risk of catastrophic fire for the past 15 years. In his interviews with residents Adem Aydin did not bring up Grenfell, but it was a subject raised by most of his interviewees. The knowledge that it could have as easily been Finsbury Towers which were consumed by flames weighs heavily in the hearts of residents...
Aydin said: “The idea came from the building works itself, every morning when I was still living at my mum’s I would open the window and see a dominant yellow from some of the material attached to the scaffolding. It sort of became a dominant part of my life and of the building. As work progressed to remove the cladding so did the builders’ presence.”
