Naohiro Harada (b. 1982, Japanese) revisits the suspended reality of the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics, extending his earlier exploration of Japanese visual culture through the lens of a tradition of playful allusion and reinterpretation.
This publication brings together images once set aside: fragments, rejections, and overlooked moments from the original series, now forming a more reflective continuation.
In dialogue with ten ukiyo-e prints by Utagawa Hiroshige, Harada further traces the relationship between past and present, absence and representation, echoing the stillness of a city once emptied and the unseen audience it once awaited.
