To those who are not directly affected, the event of a typhoon brings all kind of reactions based on traditional media news coverage and common sense. These narratives tell very little, though, about your guts and bones feeling that a storm is approaching, or the quiet serenity that precedes a furious storm. Tom Kondrat has lived in Taiwan and pictured several typhoons before they arrive: in his work, this strange peacefulness is translated into colour and composition.
